Jim Brandenburg

My favorite picture from the video was the black fether on a rock. I really liked the water droplets stuck to the fether.

I think he oly allowed himself to take one picture a day so that each picture would be more meaningful and well thought out/creative.

Critique roll 4 (lines)

First picture (Ashley): I really like the way that the line of the windowsill leads to Ashley to draw atention. I think the composition is pretty good, although she might be a little too centered.

Seciond picture (guardrail): I like the angle of tis picture and how the rail seeoms to go into forever. However, I should have used a filter to add more contrast.

Lines

I just reallly like this picture. I like the way the lines lead into the snalis and the way the snails are in order of size.

I like the spiral here and how it draws atention to the people.

I like the way this road seems to lead right to the sun.

I like the motion here and the parallels with the train, track, and road.

I like the way this wall demishes into the distence in this picture.

Critique of roll 3 (distence)

First picture (dog): I think this picture turned out ok. It has a reasonably long depth of feild and I like the way it is cropped. I also like the way that it is burned in so that the path is lighter and more obvious.

Second picture (Guitar): This picture also turned out well. It has a good shallow depth of feild and I like the motion in the hand. However, I fell that the left sid could have been burned in some because it is somewhat distracting.

Depth of Feild

I like this picture because i like the use of lines and the way that the background contrasts the subject.

I like this picture because of the way the dragonfly is posed.
I just really liked the contrast in this picture. And that watch is really cool.
I like the clouds in this image and how they are framed by the bulidings.
I like how the focus is on the statue in the back. He looks like a stalker.

Critique of roll 2 (motion)

First picture (jumping): This picture was very good. I really like the shadows and the way this motion is frozen. I also think it prited well. However, the top right corner seemes very bright and could have been burned in more.

Second picture (hair flip): This picture did not go as well. Even though the hair motion looks good there is also some background motion because the camera was not completly still. Printing for tis photo was also not as good because the negitive had dust on it and there are spots on the picture.

Motion

This bear with a blured background was taken with a slow shutter speed. Probally 1/2 sec or more.

This road with blured out cars was taken with a slow shutter speed. Maybe 1/8 or 1/2 sec.

This girl in front of a blured subway was taken with a slow shutter speed. Probally 1/30 or 1/25 sec.
This drop falling in to a pool of water was taken with a fast shutter speed. 1/1000 sec or more.

This light bulb shattering was also take with a very fast shutter speed. At least 1/500 sec.

This exploding water ballon picture was taken with a fast shutter speed. Probally over 1/100 sec.

Textbook Picture

I really like this picture because of the way the whater is frozen. you never really get to see how some things, like waterfalls, look still. I would like to use this sort of concept and take stills of other thing that are usually in motion. A storm dran might be a good place to start.

Map

1. Creepy angel statue in neighbors. Would make a great picture in rain. Creepy STONE ANGEL though, so probaly should avoid.

Desk Pictures.

Lonely
Friendship
Army
Hungry

Friendship: This imige makes me think of friendship because The boy and the dog seem to be happy together. This is somewhat more noticable because it contrasts the concrete sceen, scratched helmet, and general dreayness of the surroundings. In addition, both the dog and the person look like the might not have had the best of times recently, and are habby to make a new friend.

Composition: The rule of thirds has been used to position the dog. The boy's head is also 1/3 of the way down in the frame.
You can also tell that a slow shutter speed was used because the boy's hand is blured, allowing you to see that he is petting the dog.

Pictures I would like to take

1. A picture made of lots of other pictures.
One of those thing where you take a lot of pictures, print them out, and the line them up (sort of ovelaping) and make a complete sceen.

2. A reflection.
I want to get a picture of my ipd spining across a table or something with a long exposure but have something reflected in it. The ipod wuld look blurry, but the reflection would be clear.

3. An animal I have no control over.
No good reason here, I've just never been able to sneek up and catch one. Someday....

4. Pictures from where I sit in my classes.
Really, just sit in my class and take a picture. I think a lot of teachers just don't realize that we can't always see what they put on the board., often because they stand in front of it.

5. A person in the rain.
Just a picture of someone sitting outside in the rain. prefrably after they are totally soaked.

6. People that don't know I'm there.
I think people often look a lot better when they're not trying to pose for pictures. I want to get more of these.

7. Something upsidedown.
I don't want to turn my camera over for this one, or just flip the picture over after I print it. I actually want to hang upside down and take a picture. Really.

8. Someone sneeking.
Aganin, this might tie into the whole "you don't know I'm watching you" thing, but it could also be posed. Anyway, I want to get a picture of someone sneeking around. Hopefuly where they shouldnj't be.

9. Something from an angle most people don't see it from.
Just find something that people usually only see fom one perspective, or taht people never notice.

10. Something that's ABOUT to happen.
A picture of an event I can tell is coming, but those involved can't.
